About Us
Our name, Koinos, gives you a great picture of our church. You find the Greek word "koinos" (koy'-nos) in Acts 2:44 where we are told the followers of Jesus shared "all things in common." It means connecting as friends and sharing life together. We make this our goal so that we can help others find God as their source of unending satisfaction. (Click here for our statement of beliefs.)
Koinos is a non-traditional church with an open-door policy. You are welcome here! Come just as you are!! You can get to know God in a relaxed environment that is very kid-friendly. Grab a cup of coffee, a donut and make yourself at home.

If you enjoy going to concerts you'll feel right at home with us. It's like a concert where you don't have to just sit and listen, you can join right in every weekend. And it's the kind of music you'll find yourself singing all week long.
Meet David Phillips, our worship leader. David works for a door company for his day job. But his real passion is glorifying God in everything. He loves playing good music that leads others to encounter and worship God. David and his wife Tiffany provide a nurturing home for their new son Trevor and their sweet dog Fender.

Our pastor, Johnathan Newman, understands the value of a family-friendly church. He and his wife, Jeni, have three active kids: Joshua, Jesse, and Julia. Johnathan received his undergraduate degree at Union University and his M.Div. at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. After serving on staff at a large church in Memphis for several years, God called he and Jeni to move to Troy to start a new church. God has blessed and grown our church that started with three: Johnathan, Jeni, and Joshua. Johnathan loves teaching God's Word and has a great passion for missions and biblical counseling. He is a certified counselor with the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors. Free time is spent in the great outdoors with his family hunting fossils, riding bikes, and taking Jake (their border collie) to the river.
